NOEL'S SCARY MOVIE REVIEW!!!

Halloween II (2009)

Written and Directed by Rob Zombie
Starring Tyler Mane, Sherri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor-Compton

I was never a big Halloween/Michael Myers fan. I do own the entire franchise except for Halloween 4 (haven't seen it for less than $20.00 CAD....And I am pretty sure it won't be worth the sticker price so I will continue to wait in the shadows for one unexpected copy to find itself with a lower than $7.00 sticker price and I will snatch that one up faster than Steve being offered free no strings attached food) I have always thought of Michael Myers/Halloween as Jason Voorhees/Friday The 13th rip off, even though Halloween was 1978 and Friday The 13th was 1980 haha. I guess it’s because I saw Friday The 13th first as a youngster and being 8 years old when I saw it I had no concept of time and that theory has stuck with me all these years. But I'm not here to talk about my childhood. I'm here to talk about ducks opinions of me being influenced by whether or not I have bread.....wait a minute, that's not right. I'm here to talk about a Horror flick franchise taken in a whole new direction by a crazy unstable visionary, Rob Zombie.

Halloween II is the follow up sequel to Mr. Zombie's, think that's his real last name (Author's Notes: Changing my name to Zombie Noel ASAP), first crack at the iconic horror franchise Halloween. With every movie Rob does he brings his dark, mentally disturbing eeriness over the film. I'm not going to go into detail about the plot of Halloween 2. If you've seen any of the other 37 versions you got the point: crazy killer killing people. But what I do want to touch on is Rob's vision of the Michael Myers character and the depth into which he went with Michael’s psychological instability. The visions he would have of his mother in her angelic like state comforting him, telling him its okay. As well the image of himself from just before the insanity and killing consumed his entire being. I liked at one point when Michael was killing someone you heard him groan repeatedly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was the first time Michael has ever made a sound? The one thing I would have liked to see more of was Michael living off the land from when Halloween ended to where Halloween II began. He had a huge bushy goatee and mangy hair that really suited the insanity of the character. Wonder if he resorted to cannibalism when he was living a recluse.

All in all I think Halloween II was a good follow up by Rob Zombie.

I give this movie 3 burning jack-o-lanterns out of 5.

Scarily yours,

ZOMBIE NOEL
